About
Bulong Estate
Our region is known as the Upper Yarra Valley. It’s where you will find the start of the Yarra River as it makes its way down from the mountains with small towns nestled on its banks. Mount Donna Buang dominates the skyline, overlooking our little town called Yarra Junction.
Bulong Estate is a 120 acre property and is located just outside the township.
We love our Yarra Valley lifestyle. Plenty of space and fresh air. We flow with the seasons, summer being the busiest time of year with picking, wine making and the majority of our wedding bookings. While winter is our quiet time, the vines are pruned, the wines put to barrel and we take a break.
The property is 120 acres in size and is shaped like an amphitheatre, with 80 acres of it planted to vineyard. Grapes were first planted at Bulong Estate in 1995, and we have some of the oldest Pinot gris vines in the Yarra Valley. The Upper Yarra Valley is known for growing quality cool climate wine grapes, being slightly more elevated than the rest of the Yarra Valley. And we have a big variety of wine grapes which are sold to a range of customers who make their own wine. This is the main business of the property, growing excellent wine grapes for our customers.
We do keep a small amount of selected fruit for our own wine label. When you enjoy a Bulong Estate Wine at the venue you know those grapes haven’t travelled any distance at all. They were grown, made into wine and bottled onsite. You are tasting what you can see all around you, what’s known as the terroir, the soil, the climate, the complete natural environment in which it was produced.
